Health for the Time of Judgment
| Interesting Health Tips for you | ||
Human beings were created to enjoy life and to enjoy it forever. The devil changed all of this when he successfully deceived Adam and Eve and enticed them to eat the forbidden fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. In choosing to ignore the laws that God established to govern all of his creation, (sin) we humans began to experience illness and death – the natural consequences of our self-governing actions.
But from the very earliest Biblical records, God has provided us with
instructions, urging compliance with principles that would give us optimum
health and length of life. Often viewed as restrictive “rules”, these
instructions were rather given to free us from the burdens of illness and
premature death. His desire for us is to be as temples in which his Spirit may
dwell and from which his love may shine out into the world and make it a better
place.
As at strategic points in the history of God’s people He has provided
instruction, so at the beginning of judgment He has once again drawn our
attention to the laws of health.
On this page you will find outlined those life style practices most essential
for optimum health. We believe that as our readers apply these principles and
begin to experience improved health, they will also develop an even greater
appreciation for God and his goodness. In return, many will choose to cast their
lot with him.
There is no merit in following any set of health practices. We do not impress
God by our dietary practices, our exercise habits, or by any other life-style
practice. But though there is no merit, there is real benefit to be enjoyed by
those who by the power of God’s grace, practice the principles established by
God for our benefit. We want our readers to enjoy these benefits.
Principles That Provide Optimum Health
Nutrition: The original diet provided for people at the time of creation was a
diet composed of plant products. This is still the healthiest diet. It will
prevent illness, prolong life, and heal many diseases when wisely and carefully
applied.
Plant food products are best for us before they are refined and altered by
manufacturing. Small amounts of oils, sugars, and refined flour products are
acceptable and sometimes necessary but ought not be a prominent part of our
daily food intake.
Variety is important. Enjoy a wide variety of fruits, nuts, grains, vegetables,
legumes, (beans, peas) and other seeds and salad plants. Cook some and eat some
raw each day.
The digestive system of the body works best when meals are eaten at regular
intervals 2 or 3 times each day. Between meals, water is the ideal drink. Most
of the daily food supply should be consumed in the early part of the day when it
can be easily digested and utilized.
Generally, if one eats a good variety of natural plant foods and obtains enough
calories to maintain a healthy weight, (and for children to grow normally)
he/she will also receive all of the essential elements for health. A supplement
of B12 is indicated for pure vegans, (those who use no animal food products).
Water: Water is the universal fluid. It is a major constituent of all living
things, including humans. Good health is dependent upon keeping the body well
supplied with pure, clean water.
Drink sufficient water each day to keep the color of your urine light yellow.
The needed amount will vary depending upon activity levels, environmental
temperature and humidity, etc.. Usually this amounts to 8-10 glasses per day for
the average adult.
It is best to drink water between meals.
Herbal teas, juice and other liquids are also acceptable, but water is the
choicest drink for all occasions.
Water is also essential for cleansing. Use it liberally, on the body, and to
keep the environment clean.
Water is also an excellent medicine. Learn to use it’s magical healing
properties for all kinds of injuries and illness.
Exercise: We were created to be active. ALL body functions are improved by
physical activity. Walking, gardening and swimming are examples of beneficial
exercise. Experiment with those activities that you enjoy but avoid those that
create excessive strain, are high risk, or encourage a competitive spirit. When
possible and safe, outdoor activity is to be encouraged. Create habits that
encourage short periods of activity throughout the day. Sustained activity
lasting 20 to 30 minutes 5 or 6 times a week is also beneficial.
Rest: Exercise is beneficial, but the body also needs periods of rest and
diversion.
The most effective sleep occurs in the early part of the dark cycle. Go to bed
early. Stay there until well rested. Your body will tell you when that is, but
most people function best with 5-9 hours of sleep each night.
Rest breaks are also valuable during the day for persons engaged in sustained or
repetitive activities. Depending upon the type of one’s responsibilities, some
type of diversion may best qualify as rest.
God created us to function most efficiently by following a 7 day cycle. This
cycle is composed of six consecutive days of work followed by a full day of
rest, worship, and fellowship with Him and with our fellow men. “The Sabbath was
made for man”. (Mark 2:27)
Annual “vacations” also have value. Make them a time for renewing the body and
the spirit. Time spent in God’s great creation or in community fellowship with
believers is ideal.
Fresh air and sunlight are health promoting. Exercise in the out of doors
provides the best opportunity to obtain both. In the polluted world in which we
now live, it is sometime difficult to obtain optimum benefits from these two of
God’s healing agents. Filters and air purification units may be necessary if you
live in a highly polluted area and are unable to move. It is well to obtain
sunlight daily, but to avoid prolonged exposure and burning.
Temperance: God has provided us with all that is necessary for optimum health,
but we humans always seem to find ways to turn his blessings into curses.
Temperance is a word that we use to describe the optimum use of all of God’s
blessings. Temperance teaches us to avoid ALL things that are poisonous or
harmful, and to use all good things wisely and in moderation. Alcohol, tobacco,
caffeine, narcotics and all addicting drugs are to be avoided by one seeking
good health.
A trusting relationship with God: We human beings are all about the same. We
know the things in life that are good and good for us, but most of the time we
are unable to live according to the way we would like. We often feel powerless
to change. The Bible explains this impotency as the consequence of the choice of
our ancestors way back in Eden. When they “sold out” to Satan and chose to go it
on their own without God, we their offspring are still reaping the harvest.
Jesus came to this world to restore things back to their original state. Now, by
the power of His Spirit living within, we may even now again have access to the
power necessary to live victorious lives.
This privilege is ours by believing. When we really believe, we will be able to
trust him with the management of our lives. Then he can change us and empower us
by is Spirit of love.
And when love fills our lives and governs our actions, relationships with our
fellow men also change. We are able to forgive and be forgiven. We are able to
walk in the shoes of our brother, and accept him for who he is, a child of God.
And yes, we will then want him to get to know our savior too.
